Buyer Intent tells you when a company is actively researching solutions online — not just that they might one day be interested, but that they are doing it right now. Clodura AI receives intent data from third-party data partners that track web content consumption across millions of domains. When you configure your Buyer Intent topics, the platform matches those topics against its weekly intent feed and returns prospects whose companies are demonstrably engaged with the subject matter you care about. The result is a shorter list of higher-quality leads where your outreach lands on receptive, in-market buyers rather than cold prospects.

Plan Availability

Buyer Intent is available on the Prospect Pro, Enterprise, and Professional plans. Free and Starter plan users do not have access to this feature.

Key Rules

Before you configure Buyer Intent, understand the constraints that govern how it works:
  • You can select a maximum of 5 Buyer Intent topics at a time.
  • Once you save 5 topics, they are locked for 24 hours — you cannot edit or replace them during that window.
  • If you have saved fewer than 5 topics, you can add or edit them freely at any time.
  • The 24-hour lock period starts from the time you save your first topic — the lock applies to the entire set, not to each topic individually.
  • After the 24-hour lock expires, setting new topics replaces your previous data — the system clears old intent data before loading the new set.
  • When you first save your topics from the modal, the intent score is set to High by default.

How Intent Data Works

Intent data is sourced from Clodura AI’s data partners and includes: company name, domain, industry, the topics they are researching, and their intent score (High, Medium, or Low).
AttributeDetails
Update frequencyWeekly
Data replacementEach weekly update replaces the previous week’s data entirely
Score sourceDetermined by the data partners based on the volume and recency of topic-related content consumed
If a company appeared in last week’s intent data but not in this week’s update, their intent record is removed. Intent data reflects the current week’s research activity only.

Setting Up Buyer Intents

1

Navigate to the search page

Go to either People Search or Company Search — Buyer Intent is available in both.
2

Find the Signal section

In the left filter panel, scroll to the Signal section. You will see the Buyer Intent option listed above the Hiring Intent filter.
3

Open the intent modal

Click Set Buyer Intent. A modal window opens where you manage your topic selections.
4

Browse and select topics

The modal displays a categorized list of Buyer Intent topics. Categories are collapsed by default — click a category to expand it and see its topics. You can also use the search bar inside the modal to quickly find a specific intent.
  • Check up to 5 topics using the checkboxes.
  • Your selected topics appear in a panel on the right side of the modal.
  • If you have selected fewer than 5, the modal shows how many more you can add.
  • Use the remove option next to any selected topic to deselect it before saving.
5

Save your selections

Click Save to confirm your intent topics. The saved intents appear in the Intent section of the filter panel, above the Hiring Intent filter. The 24-hour lock period starts immediately. If you are not ready to save, click Keep Editing to return to the modal with your current selections preserved.
The Save button in the modal is disabled until you select at least one topic. You must select at least one intent before you can save.

Editing Buyer Intents

How you edit depends on how many topics you have already selected:

Fewer than 5 intents selected

Click the settings icon next to your saved intents. The modal reopens with your current selections pre-checked. You can add new topics or remove any topic you added in the current session. Previously locked topics (from an earlier save that is still within its 24-hour window) will not have a remove option until the lock expires.

All 5 intents selected

Editing is disabled for 24 hours after saving your 5th topic. A timer modal appears showing the exact time remaining before you can make changes. A label near the settings icon also displays the remaining countdown.

Applying the Buyer Intent Filter

After saving your topics, they appear as selectable checkboxes in the Intent section of the filter panel.
1

Select your intents

Check one or more of your saved Buyer Intent topics in the filter panel. Your search results update to show only contacts or companies whose domains are matching those topics in the current week’s intent data.
2

Set the intent score

Below your topic checkboxes, use the segmented score buttons to filter by High, Medium, or Low intent.
  • High is selected by default when you first save topics.
  • Score buttons are disabled until you select at least one Buyer Intent topic — hovering over them while no topic is selected displays a tooltip explaining this requirement.
3

Run your search

Click Search to execute the query. Results show contacts or companies matching your intent topics at the selected score threshold.

Understanding Intent Scores

ScoreWhat it Means
HighThe domain is consuming a large volume of content related to your topic — strong in-market signal
MediumModerate content consumption — the company is researching but may be in earlier stages
LowSome research activity present — worth monitoring but lower immediate priority
Start with High intent to identify the most immediately actionable prospects. Layer in Medium for a secondary tier of outreach, particularly for longer-cycle deals where early engagement pays off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Intent data tells you when buyers are actively researching online for a solution and which products or services they are interested in, based on the web content they consume. Rather than relying on demographic targeting alone, intent data lets you focus on accounts that are demonstrably in-market for solutions like yours.
Intent data allows you to prioritize leads by focusing on accounts showing active interest in the solutions you offer. Your sales team can engage with prospects who are further along in their buying journey, which increases efficiency and the likelihood of conversion. You can also tailor your messaging based on the specific topics a company is researching, making every interaction more relevant and impactful.
The score reflects how intensely a domain is consuming content related to a particular topic over a period of time. A High score means significant, recent research activity. Use the score to prioritize your outreach — start with High-scoring accounts and work down through Medium and Low as your capacity allows.
Once 24 hours have passed since you saved your topics, you can freely edit your selections. If you choose to save new topics after the lock expires, the previous intent dataset is wiped and replaced with data for your new topics on the next weekly update cycle.
The five-topic limit is a data licensing and processing constraint tied to how intent data is ingested from Clodura AI’s data partners. Each topic requires a dedicated data feed, and the 24-hour lock ensures data consistency across your team’s searches.
